SBÜ İzmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital

Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, which currently serves with a capacity of 910 beds, was first opened on October 6, 1971 as a 500-bed Social Insurance Institution hospital on an area of 10,000 m2 in the district now known as Yenişehir. In its first years of operation, the hospital was staffed with 6 surgery, 6 internal medicine, 1 urology, 1 orthopedics, 1 gynecology specialists.

In 1972, the Children's Hospital was opened with 200 permanent beds. In 1973, Gastroenterology and Neurosurgery services started to serve, and in 1974 the intensive care unit was established as a separate unit. In addition to the physical development of the hospital, it became a Training and Research Hospital in 1976, and assistant training was started in internal medicine and surgery branches.

Our hospital was transferred to the Ministry of Health on February 5, 2005. During the earthquake retrofitting activities, Pediatrics Clinics with 220 beds, adult and pediatric emergency rooms with an area of 2,400 m2 , intensive care unit with 55 beds, operating room unit with 16 halls, pediatric polyclinics, new pathology laboratory building, garden landscaping and a multi-purpose hall to be used in case of disasters were built. By the end of September 2007, a central laboratory was established on an area of approximately 3,000 m2 . The new central imaging units were added to the approximately 3,000 m2 area and the Nuclear Medicine Department was renovated with its equipment.

As of November 2, 2012, it started to provide services under the General Secretariat of Public Hospitals Authority Izmir Province Public Hospitals Union North. Ekrem Hayri Üstündağ Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital became Tepecik Training and Research Hospital Konak Additional Service Building on November 2, 2012 with the law on the Union of Public Hospitals.

In 2013, polyclinic elevators, new sterilization unit and surgical endoscopy unit were completed.

In 1969, S.S.K. Ege Maternity Hospital and Gynecology Training and Research Hospital, which started to serve Izmir residents and the entire Aegean Region, was affiliated to Tepecik Training and Research Hospital in 2012 with the Decree Law No. 663.

As of September 2015, the renovation works started in the hospital continued in 2016. In this context, wards, warehouses, kitchen, adult and pediatric emergency services, Gastroenterology Endoscopy Unit, Internal Medicine Intensive Care Unit roof, facade, infrastructure were renewed, garden arrangement was made and social areas of the staff were improved.

Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, which was affiliated to the Health Sciences University within the scope of the protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and the Health Sciences University of Turkey established in Istanbul, gained University Hospital Status in 2016.

Our hospital currently serves with 910 registered beds in a total closed area of 100,671 square meters.
